Kansas Day 2025
Members of the community are invited to attend If These Walls Could Talk in celebration of Kansas Day. This free program, co-sponsored by Lyons Public Library and the Rice County Historical Society, is made possible by Humanities Kansas.
This Kansas Day event focuses on murals located though out the state. Murals seem to be nearly everywhere in Kansas towns, both big and small. However, it’s not a new tradition! From the iconic John Steuart Curry murals in the state’s capitol to the frescoes of Jean Charlot in Atchison, and the many murals by artists commissioned as part of the New Deal, murals have long graced our public spaces. This talk will explore the artists, meanings, and impetus behind the state’s rich collection of public murals, and how they reflect an image of who we are as Kansans.
Join us Tuesday January 28, 2025 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Lyons Public Library.
